Design and Build

This project has been quite unique for us as the client thought about moving but loved the current location and set up of their long-standing 70’s estate house, and as such decided to stay and totally reconfigure the inside with a completely different layout and look.

So, for ourselves at By Design Group, it has been quite fascinating to turn a relatively normal house into something special.

The job is that ambitions that it has been broken into two phases, with phase one completed, being the total remodelling of the first floor, with all the bedrooms, bathrooms, landing and stairs reconfigured.

Finally bolted on to this first phase, there has been a kitchen extension on the ground floor to help open up the living space.

Phase 2 when it comes on-line in the near future will be the re-distribution of downstairs and outside to accommodate a kitchen extension, a high end cinema, an inside bar and an outside bar under a pagoda linked by a window, a garden pod accommodating a gym, a new porch, as well as pool table area internally. Leaving the house totally unrecognisable from it is relatively humble beginnings.

Buxton Interior Lighting Design

This lighting design saw the second time we used the plastered in LED channel almost exclusively through this property and since the first time we used it the introduction of continuous tape is a game changer for us and in my mind the interior lighting design industry.

Applying the concept to the walls and ceilings in the majority of the house and in many cases linking them continuously up the wall and on to the ceiling.
Then combing this with zoning, dimming and the variable use of exclusively white tape alongside RGBW, creating a variety of moods and scenes as seen in the photos.

In a progressive estate house, we wanted the lighting to mirror that concept, and I think we have achieved that so the lighting links seamlessly into the interior design.
